Job Overview:
As a Buoy Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and overall service activities related to marine buoys. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability and functionality of buoys deployed in various environments, contributing to the success of oceanographic and environmental monitoring projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Buoy Maintenance:
- Plan and execute routine service activities for marine buoys, ensuring optimal performance and data collection.
2. Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues related to buoy instrumentation, communication systems, and power sources.
3. Deployment and Retrieval:
- Coordinate the deployment and retrieval of buoys, both onshore and offshore, adhering to safety protocols and operational guidelines.
4. Data Analysis:
- Analyze collected data to ensure accuracy and reliability, and provide insights into the performance of buoy systems.
5. Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including scientists, researchers, and other engineers, to address technical challenges and enhance buoy capabilities.
6. Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of service activities, including reports on maintenance, troubleshooting, and any modifications made to buoy systems.
7. Training and Support:
- Provide training to end-users or client personnel on buoy operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
8. Equipment Calibration:
- Calibrate and validate sensors and instrumentation to ensure accurate data collection.
9. Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations during all aspects of buoy service, deployment, and retrieval activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Electronic Engineering, Ocean Engineering or a related field.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in buoy service, maintenance and water quality sensors.
- Knowledge of oceanographic sensors, communication systems, and power management for marine environments.
- Familiarity with data telemetry systems and satellite communication for remote data transmission.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Proficiency in using relevant tools and equipment for buoy service and maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in challenging offshore environments.
- Experience with buoy design and customization based on project requirements.
- Certification in safety training for offshore activities.
