About VDCI
VDCI is an ACCET-accredited, degree-granting institution training people for careers in architecture, engineering, construction, and design. Our courses are online and self-paced, built around video instruction, hands-on projects, and real deliverables students can put in a portfolio. We work with practicing professionals who want to teach what they actually do.
The Role
We are building a mathematics curriculum to support our vocational programs, and we need a subject matter expert to develop and teach it. This role includes course design, video lecture recording and providing online instruction to enrolled students. You will work with our academics and curriculum teams to turn an outline into a finished online course: recording video lessons, writing assessments, and designing the practice work that makes the math stick. Once a course launches, you will provide online instruction to enrolled students.
Initial Courses:
MATH100 - Algebra
MATH200 - Geometry
MATH300 - Calculous 1
What you will do
Develop course outlines, learning objectives, and lesson structure
Record video lessons, typically 5 to 10 minutes each, using screen capture and a simple home setup we help you configure
Write quizzes, worked examples, and hands-on practice problems
Build projects and grading rubrics that connect the math to real trade and design work
Review and revise based on feedback from our learning design team
Instruct the course after launch: grading submissions, answering student questions, and moderating a discussion forum
What we are looking for
Bachelor's degree in mathematics, engineering, or a related field. Master's preferred.
Experience teaching mathematics online at the high school, community college, or technical school level
Ability to explain mathematical concepts in plain language to students who may have been away from math for years
Comfort recording yourself on video and working independently against deadlines
Reliable internet and a quiet space to record
Nice to have
Background applying math in a trade or technical field: construction, HVAC, electrical, surveying, drafting, or manufacturing
Prior online or asynchronous course development
