Job Summary
The Project Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end execution and delivery of utility-scale ground-mounted solar PV projects. The role involves project planning, resource management, budget control, stakeholder coordination, quality assurance, safety compliance, and successful commissioning and handover of projects within the approved timeline and budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Lead the complete lifecycle of ground-mounted solar PV projects from mobilization to commissioning and handover.
- Develop project execution plans, schedules, resource deployment plans, and construction strategies.
- Monitor project progress against approved timelines and milestones.
- Ensure timely project completion while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Project Management
- Manage project budgets, cash flow requirements, and cost control measures.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning teams.
- Review and approve project schedules, progress reports, and resource allocation plans.
Site & Construction Management
- Oversee civil, structural, electrical, transmission line, and substation interface activities.
- Ensure proper execution of foundations, MMS erection, module installation, inverter stations, transformers, HT/LT cabling, and switchyard works.
- Monitor contractor performance and productivity.
- Ensure availability of manpower, equipment, and materials at site.
Client Management
- Conduct project review meetings and provide regular status updates.
- Manage client expectations and ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Coordinate with DISCOM, CEIG, SLDC, and other government authorities for approvals and project synchronization.
Quality Assurance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, EPC contracts, industry standards, and statutory requirements.
- Drive the implementation of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and HSE standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture across project sites.
- Ensure zero major safety incidents and quality deviations.
Commercial & Contract Management
- Monitor project costs, variations, claims, and change orders.
- Review contractor bills and vendor invoices.
- Ensure adherence to contractual terms and project profitability targets.
- Support procurement and vendor evaluation activities.
Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Lead testing, commissioning, grid synchronization, and performance testing activities.
- Ensure timely closure of punch points and project documentation.
- Facilitate final handover to clients and O&M teams.
Qualifications
- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
- MBA/PGDM in Project Management will be an added advantage.
Experience Requirements
- 10–12 years of experience in EPC project execution.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in utility-scale ground-mounted solar PV projects.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering projects with a minimum cumulative capacity of 500 MW.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, and client stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of utility-scale solar PV plant design, construction, and commissioning.
- Expertise in project planning, scheduling, and resource management.
- Familiarity with HT/LT systems, substations, transmission lines, and grid interconnection requirements.
- Strong understanding of EPC contracts, project finance, and commercial management.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and decision-making skills.
Reporting To: Head – Projects / Director – EPC
Travel Requirement: Extensive travel and site deployment as per project requirements.
