Job Summary:
The 2nd Class Boiler Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of boilers and associated utility equipment. The role involves monitoring steam generation, maintaining boiler parameters, conducting routine inspections, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and supporting uninterrupted plant operations.
Key Responsibilities:Boiler Operations
- Operate and monitor boilers, steam systems, and utility equipment as per standard operating procedures.
- Maintain required steam pressure, temperature, and water levels.
- Start-up, shutdown, and troubleshoot boiler systems safely.
- Monitor fuel consumption and optimize boiler efficiency.
- Record operational parameters and maintain logbooks.
Equipment Monitoring & Maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections of boilers, pumps, compressors, water treatment systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Identify abnormalities and report breakdowns immediately.
- Assist maintenance teams during preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Ensure proper functioning of safety valves, gauges, burners, and control systems.
Water Treatment & Quality Control
- Monitor boiler feed water quality and chemical dosing systems.
- Maintain prescribed water chemistry parameters.
- Coordinate with laboratory personnel for water analysis and corrective actions.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Boiler Act regulations and plant safety standards.
- Follow all PPE requirements and permit-to-work procedures.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations related to boiler operations.
- Participate in safety audits, inspections, and training programs.
Documentation
- Maintain shift reports, operational records, and maintenance logs.
- Record fuel consumption, steam generation, and utility performance data.
- Report incidents, near misses, and equipment abnormalities.
Required Qualifications:
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical qualification.
- Valid 2nd Class Boiler Attendant / Boiler Operator Certificate issued by the competent authority.
- Knowledge of boiler operations, steam systems, and utility equipment.
Experience:
- 2 to 8 years of experience in boiler operations within Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical, Power, FMCG, Textile, or Manufacturing industries.
- Experience in operating coal-fired, oil-fired, gas-fired, or biomass boilers preferred.
Pay: ₹200,000.00 - ₹300,000.00 per year
