We’re Hiring: Senior Database Architect / Database Engineering Lead Evolved Human is looking for an experienced Database Architect / Database Engineering Lead who can take ownership of database architecture across our AI-driven product ecosystem. This is not a role limited to writing schemas or CRUD queries. We need someone who can think through: Business Requirements → Data Models → Storage Strategy → Query Patterns → APIs → Performance → Scale → Reliability Engagement: Part-time, with potential to transition to Full-time Experience: 5+ years Joining: Immediate joiners only What you'll own Design scalable relational and NoSQL database architectures Translate complex product and backend requirements into effective data models Define relationships, constraints, indexing and query strategies Make informed decisions between PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB and other storage layers Design database architecture for AI-powered search, discovery and recommendation systems Work with vector data and semantic retrieval using PostgreSQL + pgvector Design caching strategies for high-read and latency-sensitive workloads Review database schemas, migrations and ORM implementations Establish database engineering standards across backend teams Work closely with Backend, API, AI/ML and Infrastructure engineers Identify scalability, consistency, concurrency and performance risks before they become production problems Core Technology Stack Backend & Data PostgreSQL pgvector Prisma / Drizzle ORM DynamoDB MongoDB Amazon S3 Cache storage — Redis or equivalent technologies Node.js / TypeScript backend environments We expect strong understanding of Relational database modelling Normalization vs denormalization trade-offs Indexing and query optimization Transactions, locking and concurrency Database migrations and schema evolution SQL performance analysis High-volume read/write patterns Caching and invalidation strategies Distributed data architecture Vector search and embedding storage Data consistency and integrity Backup, recovery and production database reliability Designing databases around real product access patterns rather than theoretical schemas Seniority matters We are specifically looking for someone who has designed and owned production database architecture, not someone whose database experience is limited to using an ORM from application code. You should be comfortable challenging architectural decisions, explaining trade-offs and reviewing the database designs of other engineers. 5+ years of relevant engineering experience preferred. Degrees matter less than demonstrated architectural ability and production experience.
