Position Summary
To develop precise, production-ready technical drawings and 3D models for custom-manufactured
components and assemblies. He will be responsible for preparing precise 2D and 3D drawings for
metal components, assemblies, and structures, ensuring all designs are optimized for production
efficiency, quality, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Drawing & CAD Modeling
Prepare detailed 2D fabrication drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD, SolidWorks,
Inventor, or similar tools from sketches, existing drawings, or specifications provided by
engineers and clients.
Include accurate dimensions, tolerances, welding symbols, GD&T, and material
specifications.
Create exploded views, assembly drawings, and installation layouts for complex products.
Generate BOMs (Bill of Materials), cut lists, and hardware schedules linked to ERP systems.
Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
Optimize designs for fabrication processes such as:
o CNC cutting (laser, plasma, waterjet)
o Sheet metal bending and forming
o Welding (MIG, TIG, spot)
o Machining and surface finishing
Ensure compatibility with available machines, tooling, and material stock sizes.
Minimize rework and scrap through smart nesting, modular design, and tolerance control.
Design Interpretation - Interpret blueprints, technical specifications, and welding symbols to
understand project requirements and translate them into accurate designs for the
production team.
Project-Based Customization
Interpret client drawings, architectural layouts, and technical specifications to develop
customized product designs.
Modify standard designs to suit site conditions, load requirements, and aesthetic
preferences.
Incorporate feedback from clients, consultants, and project managers into revised drawings.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with:
o Production to resolve fabrication challenges and improve design clarity
o Planning to align drawing releases with job sequencing
o Procurement to confirm material specs and lead times
o Quality to define inspection criteria and tolerances
Participate in design review meetings and provide technical support during installation.
Documentation & Standards
Maintain drawing registers, revision logs, and version control systems.
Follow internal design standards, layer conventions, and file naming protocols.
Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (IS, ASTM, DIN, ISO).
Prepare technical documentation for client submissions, QA audits, and internal training.
Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs), material take-offs, assembly instructions, and other
technical documentation required for procurement and production processes.
Reports
Maintain, prepare and submit monthly report to reporting manager
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Explore new materials and design techniques to improve product performance and reduce
cost.
Introduce parametric modeling, design automation, and digital workflows where applicable.
Contribute to R&D initiatives and prototype development.
Review and revise existing drawings based on feedback, engineering change orders (ECOs),
or design updates, maintaining meticulous records and version control of all design files.
Assist in the development of prototypes and perform basic calculations or simulations to
validate design concepts and ensure functionality.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.
3–6 years of experience in manufacturing design, preferably in fabrication, sheet metal, or
aluminum systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D), SolidWorks or Inventor (3D), and MS Excel.
Strong understanding of fabrication processes, material behavior, and GD&T.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and technical
specifications.
Preferred Attributes
Experience in aluminum window/door systems, façade design, or industrial enclosures.
Familiarity with ERP systems and BOM integration.
Exposure to ISO 9001 documentation and audit readiness.
Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple design tasks simultaneously.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
