Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Costing Engineer to prepare accurate cost estimates for engineering projects, control project budgets, and support the sales and procurement teams with competitive quotations. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical knowledge, costing skills, and the ability to analyze project requirements efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations based on customer requirements, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Estimate material, labor, manufacturing, installation, and overhead costs.
- Analyze BOM (Bill of Materials) and prepare project costing sheets.
- Coordinate with the Design, Procurement, Production, and Sales teams to obtain accurate costing information.
- Obtain quotations from vendors and compare prices for cost optimization.
- Review technical drawings, electrical schematics, and specifications for estimation purposes.
- Maintain updated cost databases for materials, components, and labor rates.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality.
- Assist in preparing tender documents and commercial proposals.
- Monitor project costs and provide variance analysis between estimated and actual costs.
- Support management with budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
- Ensure quotations are submitted within the required timelines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant certification in estimation or costing is an added advantage.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of cost estimation and budgeting.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of electrical panels, industrial automation, or machine manufacturing is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, costing sheets, pivot tables).
- Experience with ERP software is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in industrial automation, electrical control panels, machine building, fabrication, or manufacturing industries.
- Familiarity with BOM preparation and vendor cost analysis.
