Job Description
The Senior Casting Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and optimization of structural and functional cast components such as housings, casings, covers, brackets, and powertrain components. The role requires expertise in casting design principles, CAD modeling, GD&T, DFM/DFA, and collaboration with foundries, manufacturing, and analysis teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and manufacturable products. Proven track record of optimizing casting designs to improve quality, reduce costs, and support successful product launches. Proven track record in leading product development projects, optimizing cast designs for manufacturability and cost reduction, and collaborating with global teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Required Qualifications
Education
-
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering.
Experience
-
10+ Years of experience in casting component design and product development.

Experience working with automotive, industrial, heavy equipment
Job Requirements:
Technical Skills
-
Core and detail design experience in casting components such as Gearbox housings, Transmission housings, Axle housings, Differential housings

Proficiency in CAD tools Creo, Teamcenter Engineering
-
Strong knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous casting processes: Sand Casting, Die Casting, Investment Casting, Gravity Die Casting, HPDC and LPDC
-
Experience with casting simulation software.

Understanding of metallurgy and material properties.

Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

Familiarity with manufacturing and machining processes.
-
Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis techniques.

Optimize designs for manufacturability, weight reduction, and cost efficiency.
-
Evaluate and resolve casting defects such as shrinkage, porosity, hot spots, and misruns.

Knowledge in Develop casting methodologies including gating, riser, runner, venting systems and interpretation of casting simulation results

Prepare engineering drawings, design calculations, and technical documentation.

Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities.

Ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance casting quality and productivity.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, procurement, and project management.

Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles for casting processes.

Lead design activities for new product development projects.

Mentor junior engineers and support technical capability development.
