Job Summary
The Nursing Educator is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating nursing education and competency development programs to ensure high standards of patient care. The role focuses on enhancing clinical knowledge, skills, and professional competencies of nursing staff through orientation, in-service education, competency assessments, and continuous professional development, while ensuring compliance with NABH standards and hospital policies.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Education & Training
- Plan and implement the annual nursing education and training calendar based on Training Need Analysis (TNA).
- Conduct induction and orientation programmes for newly recruited nursing staff.
- Organize and deliver in-service education, Continuing Nursing Education (CNE), workshops, and skill development programmes.
- Conduct mandatory trainings including:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Infection Prevention & Control (IPC)
- Fire & Safety
- Biomedical Waste Management (BMW)
- Medication Safety
- Patient Safety Goals
- Code Blue & Emergency Response
- Documentation Standards
- Develop lesson plans, presentations, competency checklists, and training materials.
Clinical Competency Management
- Assess clinical competencies of nursing staff through practical demonstrations, return demonstrations, and competency evaluations.
- Conduct annual competency assessments and maintain competency records.
- Identify knowledge and skill gaps and recommend appropriate developmental interventions.
- Provide bedside teaching and clinical mentoring to nursing staff.
Quality & NABH Compliance
- Ensure nursing education programmes comply with NABH standards, statutory requirements, and hospital policies.
- Participate in internal audits, quality improvement initiatives, and accreditation activities.
- Promote evidence-based nursing practice and patient safety initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with infection control practices and standard nursing protocols.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain training attendance records, competency assessment reports, and educational documentation.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual training reports.
- Maintain records of mandatory certifications and staff training compliance.
Performance Improvement
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes through assessments and feedback.
- Analyze incident reports, medication errors, and audit findings to identify training needs.
- Recommend corrective and preventive educational interventions.
Coordination
- Coordinate with HR, Quality Department, Infection Control Team, Medical Consultants, and other departments for multidisciplinary training programmes.
- Support nursing supervisors in staff development and performance improvement initiatives.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain training equipment, educational materials, mannequins, and simulation resources.
- Participate in developing and updating nursing policies, SOPs, and clinical protocols.
- Perform any other duties assigned by Nursing Administration or Hospital Management.
Qualifications
- B.Sc. Nursing (Mandatory)
- M.Sc. Nursing (Preferred)
- Valid State Nursing Council Registration.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience in a multispecialty hospital.
- Experience in ICU, Emergency, OT, or Critical Care is preferred.
- Prior experience in nursing education, mentoring, or staff training will be an added advantage.
