Job Summary
The Vendor Development Executive / Engineer will be responsible for identifying, developing, evaluating and managing suppliers to ensure the timely availability of quality materials and services at competitive prices. The candidate will work closely with the Purchase, Quality, Production, Design and Planning teams to develop a strong and reliable vendor base.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new vendors and suppliers based on the company’s material and production requirements.
- Search for alternate sources to reduce dependency on single vendors and ensure uninterrupted material supply.
- Evaluate vendors based on their technical capability, production capacity, quality standards, pricing and delivery performance.
- Conduct vendor visits, audits and capability assessments before finalizing new suppliers.
- Coordinate with internal departments to understand technical specifications and sourcing requirements.
- Obtain quotations from vendors and compare prices, quality, lead time and commercial terms.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules and other commercial conditions with suppliers.
- Support cost reduction initiatives through value engineering, alternate vendor development and price negotiations.
- Coordinate for sample development, trial orders, inspection and approval of new vendors.
- Work closely with the Quality team to resolve vendor-related quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor vendor performance regularly with respect to quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness.
- Prepare and maintain vendor performance reports and supplier evaluation records.
- Follow up with vendors to ensure timely dispatch and delivery of materials as per production schedules.
- Resolve issues related to delayed deliveries, material shortages, rejections and supply disruptions.
- Develop long-term and professional relationships with key vendors and suppliers.
- Ensure vendors comply with company quality standards, technical specifications and documentation requirements.
- Coordinate with the Purchase and Accounts teams regarding purchase orders, invoices and payment-related matters.
- Maintain an updated database of approved vendors, alternate suppliers and vendor development activities.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities related to sourcing, supply chain and vendor quality improvement.
- Prepare MIS reports and provide regular updates to the reporting manager regarding vendor development activities.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of vendor sourcing, supplier development and procurement processes.
- Good negotiation and commercial discussion skills.
- Knowledge of cost analysis and price comparison.
- Ability to understand technical specifications and manufacturing requirements.
- Experience in vendor evaluation, vendor audits and performance monitoring.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
- Good coordination skills with internal departments and external suppliers.
- Ability to handle multiple vendors and follow up effectively.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and ERP systems is preferred.
Preferred Background
Candidates having experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, Automobile, Sheet Metal, Fabrication, Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial sectors will be preferred.
Education
Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Production or relevant Engineering discipline preferred.
Relevant experience in Vendor Development, Purchase or Supply Chain will also be considered.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹85,000.00 per month
