A Semi-Solid Production Chemist oversees the manufacturing of topical and dermatological products—such as creams, ointments, gels, and lotions. They ensure product consistency, maintain strict cGMP compliance, and direct processing and packaging workflows from batch compounding to the final packaged good.
Key Responsibilities
Batch Manufacturing: Execute compounding processes according to the BMR (Batch Manufacturing Record) and SOPs, ensuring the correct weighing, mixing, and homogenization of active and inactive ingredients.
Process Controls: Monitor critical process parameters like temperature, mixing speed, viscosity, and pH to guarantee physical and chemical stability.
Quality Assurance (QA/QC): Coordinate with the Quality Department to pull in-process samples, conduct physical parameter checks (e.g., tube fill weight, extrudability), and handle deviations.
Documentation: Meticulously fill out BMRs, BPR (Batch Packaging Records), equipment logbooks, and line clearance forms to comply with regulatory audits.
Equipment Management: Operate, calibrate, and oversee the cleaning and sanitization of compounding and filling equipment, including jacketed vessels, colloid mills, homogenizers, and tube-filling machines.
Safety & Compliance: Maintain EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) protocols on the production floor, ensuring safe handling of hazardous raw materials and proper disposal of chemical waste.
Requirements & Qualifications Education: D. Pharma, B.Pharm, M.Pharm, B.Sc, or M.Sc chemistry.
Experience: Typically, 2–6 years of hands-on manufacturing experience in semi-solid or topical pharmaceutical, cosmetic, or nutraceutical production.
Key Skills: Strong understanding of cGMP regulations, excellent documentation practices, supervisory skills for shift management, and high attention to detail.
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
