Job Summary:
A waiter/waitress is responsible for providing excellent customer service in a restaurant, café, or other food service environment. They interact directly with customers to take orders, serve food and drinks, and ensure an overall positive dining experience. They must be attentive, friendly, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and escort customers to their tables
- Present menus and explain daily specials
- Take food and drink orders from customers
- Relay orders to the kitchen staff
- Serve food and beverages in a timely and professional manner
- Ensure customer satisfaction by checking on guests throughout their meal
- Prepare and clean tables before and after guests arrive or leave
- Handle customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and courtesy
- Process customer payments and provide change as necessary
- Maintain knowledge of the menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and dietary restrictions
- Follow all safety and sanitation regulations
- Collaborate with other restaurant staff to ensure smooth service
- Assist with setting up and breaking down the dining area and other general tasks as needed
Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a customer service or food service role is preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and carry trays for extended periods
- Basic math skills for handling cash and payments
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
