Position Overview
:
We are seeking a Software Engineer with hands-on experience in AS400 / IBMi administration and production support. The role involves maintaining platform availability, administering IBMi operating system services, supporting upgrades and backups, monitoring system performance, resolving incidents, and executing operational changes in a controlled manner.
The ideal candidate combines sound IBMi administration skills with strong troubleshooting ability, operational discipline, automation awareness, and effective collaboration with application, infrastructure and service-management teams
Work Experience:-
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in iSeries Administration and support

IBMi (iSeries / AS400) System Administration with experience / exposure in H/W, S/W areas.
Technical Requirement-
IBMi (iSeries / AS400) Administration Skills.
Key Responsibilities:-
Perform day-to-day IBM i system administration, monitoring and operational health checks for production and non-production environments.

Handle user profiles, authorities, object ownership, group profiles, access controls and OS400 security administration in line with organizational policies.

Monitor subsystems, jobs, messages, output queues, storage, system status and critical services; investigate and resolve operational issues.

Perform job control, job monitoring and scheduling using native IBM i scheduling facilities or enterprise tools such as Robot, IBM Advanced Job Scheduler, Control-M or Halcyon.

Execute backup and recovery activities using BRMS, native tape backups and virtual tape solutions; validate completion and escalate exceptions promptly.

Support IBM i OS upgrades, PTFs, cumulative updates, APAR analysis and application software maintenance using approved change procedures.

Assist with Power System, HMC and VIOS operational tasks, including health checks, configuration reviews and issue coordination.

Perform system-performance troubleshooting with tools such as IBM iDoctor or Performance Manager and recommend practical remediation.

Support data replication and high-availability operations, including monitoring and initial troubleshooting of solutions such as MIMIX or iCluster.

Participate in system builds, migrations, environment refreshes and decommissioning activities under senior technical guidance.

Maintain operational documents, runbooks, incident records and change-related evidence for audit and knowledge sharing.

Participate in on-call, weekend or planned maintenance activities as required by business and service commitments.
Qualification & Skills:-
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or related field.

Knowledge of Automation/Monitoring Tools

Knowledge in ACS Client Installation and Setup.

Knowledge in iSeries New System Builds and Decommission.

Strong knowledge of iSeries PTF/APAR Management.

Strong Knowledge on iSeries AS400 Security Management.

Expertise Knowledge in High Availability – MIMIX, iCluster.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
