We are looking for an experienced Assistant Production Manager to support and coordinate day-to-day production activities in our shipbuilding operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in shipbuilding or ship repair and possess strong leadership, planning, and coordination skills to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Production Manager in planning, scheduling, and executing shipbuilding projects.
- Supervise daily production activities involving hull fabrication, structural assembly, outfitting, piping, welding, blasting, painting, and equipment installation.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Planning, QA/QC, Procurement, and Project teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely project execution.
- Monitor daily production progress and prepare production reports.
- Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, machinery, and materials.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve productivity.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, quality standards, and environmental regulations.
- Supervise production supervisors, foremen, and shop-floor personnel.
- Verify that work is carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Participate in client inspections, classification society inspections, and internal quality audits.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce production costs.
- Assist in achieving project milestones and delivery schedules.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5–10 years of experience in shipbuilding or ship repair, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or assistant managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of shipbuilding production processes, structural fabrication, welding, piping, outfitting, and marine systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and production plans.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ERP experience is an added advantage.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
