Job Summary
The Electrical cum Plumber is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and plumbing systems across the college campus. The role ensures that classrooms, laboratories, hostels, offices, and other facilities remain safe, functional, and compliant with applicable safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, switches, sockets, lighting fixtures, fans, and distribution boards.
- Troubleshoot and rectify electrical faults in buildings and campus facilities.
- Perform preventive maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.
- Monitor generators, UPS systems, pumps, and electrical panels.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations and standards.
Plumbing Maintenance
- Install, repair, and maintain water supply, drainage, and sewage systems.
- Repair leaking pipes, faucets, flush valves, water tanks, and sanitary fixtures.
- Clear blockages in drainage and sewer lines.
- Maintain water pumps, pipelines, and plumbing accessories.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and prevent plumbing issues.
General Duties
- Respond promptly to maintenance complaints and emergency breakdowns.
- Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs, and material usage.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors when required.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Support other facility maintenance activities as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- ITI Certificate in Electrician/Wireman, Plumber, or equivalent technical qualification.
- Valid Electrical Wireman License (where required by local regulations) is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing drawings is desirable.
Experience
- 1–2 years of experience in electrical and plumbing maintenance.
- Experience in educational institutions, hospitals, commercial buildings, or large campuses is preferred.
