The School Librarian is responsible for managing the library, promoting reading habits among students, and supporting the academic curriculum by providing access to relevant learning resources. The librarian ensures an organized, resourceful, and student-friendly library environment.
Key Responsibilities Library Management
- Maintain and organize library resources (books, journals, digital materials).
- Catalog and classify books using standard systems.
- Ensure proper issue and return of books.
- Maintain library records, stock verification, and inventory updates.
Academic Support
- Assist students and teachers in selecting appropriate reading and reference materials.
- Support curriculum needs with relevant resources.
- Conduct library orientation sessions for students.
Reading Promotion
- Encourage reading habits through:
- Book reviews
- Reading challenges
- Library periods
- Organize events like:
- Book fairs
- Author visits
- Reading week activities
Digital Resource Management
- Manage e-books, digital catalogs, and online learning resources.
- Support students in basic research and information literacy.
- Maintain library software and digital records.
Administrative Duties
- Prepare and maintain reports (daily/weekly/monthly).
- Monitor student usage and reading trends.
- Coordinate with vendors for procurement of books and materials.
Discipline & Environment
- Ensure discipline and silence in the library.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Library Science (B.Lib / M.Lib).
- Relevant experience in a school library preferred.
Skills Required
- Strong organizational and cataloguing skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of library software and digital tools
- Passion for reading and student engagement

As per school timings - 8:05 am to 3:15 pm
