Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management: Overseeing door-to-door collection, transportation logistics, and the operation of recycling centers and composting facilities. [1, 2]
- Compliance & Safety: Enforcing municipal and state waste disposal regulations (e.g., Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016) to protect public health. [1, 2]
- Data & Analytics: Utilizing geographic information systems (GIS) to optimize waste collection routes and analyze landfill diversion metrics. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
- Community Engagement: Developing public education programs focusing on the 5 Rs (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover) and promoting source segregation. [1, 2]
Core Competencies
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of biological treatments (composting), waste-to-energy processes, and hazardous waste protocols.
- Project Management: Budgeting, financial tracking, and supervising cross-functional field teams.

Qualifications & Education
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental science, public administration, or environmental/civil engineering.
- Experience: Generally requires 3 to 5 years of field or operational management experience.
- Certifications: Supplementary certifications in sanitation or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) provide a distinct career advantage
