- Quality System Oversight: Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) aligned with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
- Testing & Inspection: Design and oversee inspection protocols and testing procedures for raw materials, in-process assemblies, and final products.
- Root Cause Analysis: Investigate non-conformances using structured problem-solving frameworks (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D) to uncover the source of defects.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize production and eliminate waste.
- Compliance & Audits: Conduct internal process audits and ensure the workplace complies with safety regulations and industry-specific requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to build quality into New Product Introductions (NPI) and address vendor quality issues.
Essential Skills
- Analytical & Statistical Skills: Ability to interpret data, evaluate process capability, and use statistical tools (e.g., Minitab, SPC).
- Problem-Solving Methodologies: Fluency in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Technical Literacy: Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, understanding GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and operating testing/calibration equipment.
- Software QA (if applicable): Knowledge of automated testing tools, Jira, and QA frameworks for software-specific roles.
Typical Qualifications & Education
- Degree: Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Production, or Software Engineering.
- Experience: Generally 2 to 7+ years of experience in quality assurance, auditing, or a related manufacturing/engineering field.
- Certifications: Certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt are highly advantageou
