ICU Nurse – Roles & ResponsibilitiesPatient Care
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
- Continuously monitor patients' vital signs, neurological status, and overall clinical condition.
- Perform systematic patient assessments and promptly report any deterioration to the treating physician.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and nutrition as prescribed.
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment.
Clinical Procedures
- Assist physicians during emergency procedures such as intubation, central venous catheter insertion, chest tube insertion, and arterial line placement.
- Operate and monitor ICU equipment including ventilators, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, syringe pumps, and defibrillators.
- Perform wound care, tracheostomy care, suctioning, catheter care, and enteral feeding as per protocols.
- Collect and send laboratory specimens following infection control guidelines.
Emergency & Critical Care
- Recognize and respond promptly to medical emergencies and code blue situations.
- Perform Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required.
- Participate in rapid response and resuscitation efforts.
Infection Prevention & Patient Safety
- Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols, including hand hygiene and PPE usage.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during invasive procedures and patient care.
- Implement patient safety measures to prevent falls, pressure injuries, medication errors, and healthcare-associated infections.
- Ensure safe handling and disposal of biomedical waste.
Communication & Coordination
- Coordinate with intensivists, consultants, respiratory therapists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, and other multidisciplinary team members.
- Communicate patient status and treatment plans effectively during shift handovers.
- Educate and counsel patients' families regarding treatment plans, procedures, and ICU protocols.
- Provide compassionate emotional support to patients and their families.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate nursing records, medication administration records, and critical care charts.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH/JCI standards, and statutory regulations.
- Report clinical incidents, adverse events, and near misses through the hospital reporting system.
Equipment & Inventory Management
- Ensure ICU equipment is functional and readily available.
- Perform routine checks of emergency crash carts and emergency equipment.
- Maintain adequate stock of medications, consumables, and emergency supplies.
- Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate timely maintenance.
Quality Improvement & Professional Development
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and infection surveillance activities.
- Attend mandatory training programs, CMEs, and continuing nursing education sessions.
- Mentor junior nurses, nursing students, and new staff as assigned.
- Stay updated with evidence-based critical care nursing practices.
Other Responsibilities
- Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold ethical nursing practices.
- Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and privacy at all times.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the Nursing Supervisor or ICU In-charge in the interest of patient care and hospital operations.

Pay: ₹23,625.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
