The opportunity:
The Supplier Quality Engineer position is a core business function in ensuring partners selected to collaborate with Hitachi Energy are compliant and able to meet or exceed the stringent requirements placed by Hitachi Energy and our customers. Implementing Hitachi Energy Contractor Qualification processes in assessing partners ability to provide services Safely, Sustainably and with Quality, with an ultimate purpose in identifying and mitigating any associated risks before engaging the vendor. During this process you will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and subject matter specialists’ providing support including during audit assessments. On successful conclusion of qualification processes and onboarding, you will continue to support HVDC Contracting and Commissioning function in monitoring their project performance, including non-conformity resolution of systemic issues, evaluation and development activities. The role is part of Hitachi Energy Global HVDC Supplier Quality function with colleagues based in China, India, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States.
How you’ll make an impact:
Providing input and guidance to the contractor during the selection process.
Lead the contractor qualification process for contractors in Germany and Eastern Europe. Approx 30% travel expected.
Collaboration with stakeholders and subject matter specialists in functions including Health & Safety, Sustainability, Cyber security, Site Quality and colleagues within SCM (Supply Chain Management) in ensuring relevant risks are identified and mitigated.
Hand over the contractor to Contracting and Commissioning function along with any risk in need of mitigation in execution stage.
Support Contracting and Commissioning with performance monitoring of the contractor, non-conformity management, performance improvement and performance evaluation.
Drive process and interface improvements together with the wider Supplier Quality team.
Establishes clear and transparent communication internally, externally, and between different Divisions, Business Units and Functions and supports the implementation of PL activities and initiatives in the Region/Country through this clear communication.
You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:
Bachelor’s degree related to Civil Engineering or equivalent competence gained through experience.
10+ years proven experience in assessing contractor compliance to international standards, laws and regulations. 3 years of experience in conducting audit assessments either internally or externally.
Experience of ISO Standard requirements including 9001:2015, 45001:2018 & 14001:2015. ISO 9001 lead-auditor certification is desirable.
Proven experience in managing non-conformities, driving root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions in addition executing performance improvement projects.
Applicants having previous experience of working in or with Civil Contracting companies, including quality assurance roles, will also be considered.
Experience in product qualification process (PPAP or similar).
Ability to work in cross functional and global team environments, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, demonstrated technical attitude and a passion for quality. A pro-active mind-set in planning and executing activities, seeking support and guidance where required.
Good communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to collaborate effectively.
