Conduct experimental research, analyse data, write and publish manuscripts, write and apply for research grants and mentor PhD and undergraduate students.
Reporting to: Professor Ashim Rai
Duration: 36 months
Role Summary: Professor Ashim Rai’s lab in the Division of Biological and Life Sciences at Ahmedabad University is looking for a motivated and self-driven postdoctoral fellow to work on biophysics of Salmonella-host cytoskeleton interactions. The research project would be directed towards understanding the biophysical molecular mimicry mechanisms used by Salmonella pathogenic factors to hijack host cell cytoskeletal networks. The ideal candidate would have a PhD degree in biochemistry or biophysics and an experience in cytoskeletal biology would be highly desirable. The candidate would be expected to work using interdisciplinary methods that span reconstitution biology, fluorescence spectroscopy and DNA nanotechnology. An experience in fluorescence microscopy and spectroscopy is essential.
About us: Ahmedabad University is a private, non-profit University that offers students a liberal education with a focus on research-driven and project-based learning.
Responsibilities
- Design and conduct experiments in cytoskeletal research.
- Analyse a wide range of experimental data ranging from microscopy to spectroscopy.
- Write manuscripts and grants for research publication and research funding respectively.
- Mentor and train incoming PhD and undergraduate students.
Key Skills
- Expertise in protein expression and purification using bacterial and insect cell expression systems.
- Experience in time-lapse fluorescence imaging to monitor the progress of biological function over time.
- Experience in use of a fluorescence spectrophotometer to measure fluorescence.
Qualification: PhD degree in Biochemistry or Biophysics with a demonstrated record of publication in high-impact peer reviewed journals.
How to apply: Interested candidates can apply by sending their CV and cover letter to Professor Ashim Rai by email on the email address [email protected]
