Job Summary:
The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications accurately, maintaining safe pharmacy practices, managing oncology medicines, and supporting clinical teams in delivering quality patient care at SunAct Cancer Institute. The role also includes administrative coordination, inventory management, regulatory compliance, and smooth functioning of pharmacy operations within the hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical & Operational Responsibilities:
- Dispense prescribed medications accurately as per doctor’s orders.
- Handle oncology and chemotherapy medications following proper safety protocols.
- Verify prescriptions for dosage accuracy, drug interactions, contraindications, and patient safety.
- Maintain proper storage and handling of narcotics, cytotoxic drugs, and temperature-sensitive medicines.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and clinical teams regarding medication availability and requirements.
- Educate patients and attendants regarding medication usage, dosage, side effects, and precautions.
- Prepare and label medicines accurately for IPD, OPD, and daycare patients.
- Ensure availability of emergency and critical care medicines.
- Monitor expiry dates, batch tracking, and medication recalls.
Administrative Responsibilities:
· Manage both units
· Implement strategy for smooth functioning
· Maintain daily pharmacy records, billing entries, stock registers, and documentation.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, stock audits, and medicine indent processes.
- Coordinate with vendors and procurement teams for medicine purchasing and replenishment.
- Monitor medicine consumption trends and prepare inventory reports.
- Ensure compliance with NABH standards, pharmacy regulations, and hospital policies.
- Maintain proper documentation for narcotics, chemotherapy drugs, and controlled substances.
- Assist in departmental audits, inspections, and statutory compliance activities.
- Prepare monthly pharmacy reports related to stock, consumption, and expiry management.
- Support implementation and monitoring of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Coordinate with accounts and administration departments regarding billing discrepancies and approvals.
- Maintain discipline, cleanliness, and infection control practices within the pharmacy department.
- Assist in training new pharmacy staff and supporting operational workflow management.
Required Qualifications:
- B.Pharm / M.Pharm / D.Pharm from a recognized institute.
- Valid State Pharmacy Council Registration.
Experience:
- 8-10 years of experience in hospital pharmacy.
- Experience in oncology/cancer hospital pharmacy preferred.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of oncology and chemotherapy drugs.
- Understanding of pharmacy operations and inventory management.
- Strong administrative and documentation skills.
- Good communication and interdepartmental coordination skills.
- Familiarity with hospital management software.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with NABH-accredited hospitals.
- Knowledge of cytotoxic drug handling protocols.
- Basic understanding of chemotherapy regimens and supportive medications.
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
