Position Summary
The Pharmacist is responsible for the procurement, storage, dispensing, and inventory management of medicines, consumables, and pharmaceutical products used in fertility treatments and related procedures. The role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, maintains accurate records, and provides medication-related guidance to patients and clinical teams.
Key Roles & Responsibilities1. Pharmacy Operations
- Dispense medicines, injections, hormones, and other pharmaceutical products accurately against valid prescriptions.
- Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and handling of all medications.
- Maintain appropriate storage conditions, including temperature-controlled and cold-chain products.
- Verify prescriptions and coordinate with treating doctors in case of any discrepancies or clarifications.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and organization within the pharmacy.
2. Inventory & Stock Management
- Monitor stock levels of medicines, IVF drugs, hormones, consumables, and emergency medications.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels to prevent stock shortages and treatment disruptions.
- Track batch numbers, manufacturing dates, expiry dates, and storage requirements.
- Conduct regular stock audits and inventory reconciliation.
- Coordinate with approved vendors and suppliers for timely procurement and replenishment.
- Minimize wastage due to expiry, damage, or improper storage.
3. Patient Counselling & Support
- Educate patients regarding dosage schedules, administration methods, storage requirements, and precautions for prescribed medications.
- Provide guidance on fertility medications, hormonal therapies, and injection protocols as directed by clinicians.
- Address patient queries related to medication usage while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ensure patients receive complete instructions for medication adherence during treatment cycles.
4. Compliance, Licensing & Documentation
- Ensure strict compliance with all applicable pharmacy regulations, statutory requirements, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement, dispensing, inventory movement, returns, and stock consumption.
- Keep all pharmacy-related documentation updated and audit-ready at all times.
- Ensure all licenses, registrations, permits, and statutory approvals required for pharmacy operations remain valid and compliant.
- Support internal audits, quality assessments, and regulatory inspections.
- Ensure proper disposal of expired, damaged, or non-usable medicines as per regulatory guidelines.
5. Professional Registration & License Requirements
- Maintain a valid and active Pharmacist Registration Certificate issued by the relevant State Pharmacy Council.
- Ensure that all professional registrations, licenses, and statutory certifications required for practice are valid throughout employment.
- Copies of registration certificates, renewals, and supporting documents must be readily available for verification by the organization, auditors, or regulatory authorities whenever required.
- Promptly notify management of any changes, renewals, suspensions, or regulatory issues relating to professional registration.
6. Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, embryologists, and operations teams to ensure uninterrupted availability of medications and consumables.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly pharmacy and inventory reports.
- Report stock variances, near-expiry medicines, shortages, and procurement requirements to management.
- Assist in implementing pharmacy-related process improvements and quality initiatives.
Desired Candidate Profile :
Educational Qualifications
- Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm).
- Registered Pharmacist with a valid State Pharmacy Council Registration.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in a hospital, IVF centre, fertility clinic, or healthcare setup.
- Experience in handling fertility medications, hormonal therapies, and cold-chain products will be preferred.
