Hardware Engineer. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in computer hardware, desktop support, server maintenance, peripheral devices, networking hardware, and IT infrastructure management. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of all IT hardware across the University's academic, administrative, hospital, and hostel campuses.
Key Responsibilities
l Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other IT peripherals.
l Diagnose and resolve hardware failures, operating system issues, and device-related problems.
l Install, upgrade, and maintain Windows operating systems and standard software applications.
l Perform preventive maintenance of IT hardware and maintain service records.
l Configure and support BIOS, storage devices, RAM upgrades, and hardware replacements.
l Install and troubleshoot networking hardware including switches, routers, wireless access points, and structured cabling.
l Provide first-level support for servers, storage devices, CCTV systems, biometric devices, and IP telephony.
l Manage IT asset inventory, warranty tracking, and documentation.
l Coordinate with vendors for hardware procurement, AMC support, and warranty claims.
l Ensure timely resolution of user complaints while maintaining service-level agreements (SLAs).
l Assist in IT infrastructure upgrades, deployment of new systems, and technology refresh projects.
l Follow IT security policies and ensure the safe handling of hardware assets.
Eligibility Criteria Educational Qualification
l Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Computer Applications, or a related discipline.
l Diploma in Computer Hardware, Electronics, or IT Hardware & Networking is desirable.
l MCA, B.Tech, BE, or equivalent qualifications will be an added advantage.
Experience
l Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in computer hardware maintenance, desktop support, and IT infrastructure management.
l Experience in Universities, Educational Institutions, Hospitals, or large corporate environments will be preferred.
Required Certifications :
l CompTIA A+ – Preferred
l CompTIA Network+ – Preferred
l Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or equivalent
l Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) – Added advantage
l Dell, HP, Lenovo, or OEM Hardware Support Certifications – Preferred
l ITIL Foundation Certification – Preferred
Technical Skills
l Strong knowledge of computer hardware architecture and troubleshooting.
l Experience with desktop and laptop repair, printer support, and peripheral device maintenance.
l Hands-on experience with Windows 10/11 installation, imaging, and system deployment.
l Basic knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, networking, and LAN troubleshooting.
l Understanding of structured cabling, UPS systems, and power management.
l Familiarity with server hardware, RAID configuration, storage devices, and backup solutions.
l Experience with IT asset management tools and help desk/ticketing systems.
