Job Summary
The City CEO will own the end-to-end business performance of a city, including revenue growth,
operations, category performance, and profitability. This role is responsible for building and scaling
the city ecosystem — from sales team expansion and retailer acquisition to dark store operations,
supply chain efficiency, and market leadership.
The City CEO will act as the mini-CEO of the city, ensuring sustainable growth, strong unit
economics, and a reliable retailer experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. City Business Ownership
- Own the complete P&L of the city, including revenue, margins, and operating costs.
- Drive city-level GMV growth, retailer acquisition, and order frequency.
- Ensure the city operates with strong unit economics and contribution margins.
2. Sales Team Building & Market Expansion
- Build and scale the city sales organization including Area Managers and field sales teams.
- Drive retailer acquisition, onboarding, and relationship management.
- Design beat plans, territory mapping, and sales productivity frameworks.
3. City Network & Dark Store Planning
- Plan and execute city network expansion including warehouse and dark store locations.
- Optimize coverage, delivery speed, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure the city has the right inventory availability and service levels.
4. Demand Planning & Category Growth
- Forecast demand and align supply planning with category teams.
- Ensure strong category performance, SKU availability, and assortment relevance.
- Lead the addition of new categories based on retailer demand and market opportunities.
5. Trade Marketing & Pricing Strategy
- Execute trade marketing initiatives and pricing strategies to drive retailer adoption.
- Monitor competitor pricing and ensure market competitiveness.
- Implement schemes, promotions, and programs to improve order value and frequency.
6. Supply Chain & Operations Alignment
- Work closely with supply chain teams to ensure high fill rates and smooth last-mile execution.
- Manage city-level inventory planning, logistics performance, and service reliability.
- Ensure operational discipline across warehousing, dispatch, and deliveries.
7. Market Intelligence & Competitive Landscape
- Continuously analyze the competitive landscape within the city.
- Identify threats, opportunities, and emerging demand patterns.
- Drive strategic city expansion and growth initiatives.
8. Marketing & Brand Presence
- Execute offline and online marketing initiatives for city growth.
- Build strong brand presence and retailer awareness in the local market.
- Support local campaigns to drive retailer engagement and loyalty.
Key Skills & Qualifications
8–12+ years of experience in sales leadership, marketplace operations, or supply chain-driven businesses.- Strong background in B2B distribution, FMCG sales, e-commerce, or quick commerce.
- Proven experience managing city-level operations or regional business units.
- Strong understanding of field sales productivity and local market dynamics.
- Ability to build teams and drive execution in high-growth environments.
