About Homeville
Homeville Group builds the credit network and infrastructure rails that powers India’s secured assets credit ecosystem. Bharat Housing Network (BHN) is India’s largest secured assets credit network, providing capital, technology, and infrastructure to Housing Finance Companies (HFCs) and NBFCs. The network enables financial institutions grow their secured assets book without incurring significant Operational and Capital expenditure. Underneath it sits Velocity, our in-house lending stack (CRM, Loan Origination System, and Loan Management System) that runs origination through servicing for our lending operations and partner network.
This role is about making Velocity excellent for the people who run lending on it every day.
The Role
We are looking for a Product Manager to own and evolve Velocity, our internal lending platform. This is not a consumer-app role. Your users are the credit, operations, collections, compliance, finance, and business teams who use Velocity to originate, underwrite and service loans, plus the partner lenders who connect into our co-lending and direct-assignment flows.
Your job is to deeply understand how these users work, turn messy real-world lending processes into clear, usable software, and ship it. You will own the discovery, definition, and delivery of features end to end by liaising with engineering, QA, and design. Because Velocity sits at the centre of our stack, you will also coordinate closely with the Product Managers who own BHN, Direct Assignment, and our AI initiatives so that what you build integrates cleanly with the wider platform ecosystem.
A meaningful part of this role is product and UX design for a complex web platform, information-dense workflows, multi-step forms, role-based views, and operational tooling. We expect you to think hard about usability and to be hands-on in shaping the interface alongside your designer.
What you’ll do
- Own the product. Set the direction for your surface (CRM, LOS, and/or LMS workflows), prioritise ruthlessly, and be accountable for outcomes, not just output.
- Run discovery with internal users. Sit with credit, operations, collections, compliance, finance and accounts, and business-development teams to understand how loans move through the institution, where the friction is, and what’s worth solving.
- Turn requirements into shippable specs. Translate business problems into clear PRDs, user stories, flows, and acceptance criteria that engineering and QA can build and test against with minimal ambiguity.
- Design the experience. Partner with design (and lead the thinking yourself) on workflows, screens, states, and interaction patterns for an information-heavy web platform; defend usability decisions with reasoning, not preference.
- Lead your squad. Drive a cross-functional team of developers, QA, and design — through planning, sprints, reviews, and release. Keep the work unblocked, the scope clear, and the team aligned.
- Coordinate across the platform. Work with the BHN, Direct Assignment, and AI Lab to ensure features interoperate cleanly across the co-lending stack and negotiate sequencing and dependencies across teams.
- Build the platform’s reporting layer. Partner with the finance and accounts teams to understand their data needs and develop the dashboards and reports they rely on — from operational MIS to reconciliation and financial reporting — so the numbers they need come out of Velocity cleanly.
- Support audits and due diligence. Work with the finance and strategy teams to provide the platform data, reports, and context they need for internal and external audits, due-diligence exercises, and similar reviews.
- Manage stakeholders and trade-offs. Align competing priorities across business and technology, communicate decisions and rationale clearly, and bring people along.
- Support issue resolution. Help the support team triage and resolve user issue tickets — sorting genuine bugs from how-to questions and change requests, prioritising them, and routing them to the right place so users stay unblocked.
- Close the loop. Track adoption and impact after release, gather feedback, and iterate so the platform keeps getting better for the people who live in it.
What we’re looking for
Experience
- 2–4 years in product management, with direct experience in banking, fintech, lending, or the mortgage / NBFC / HFC space.
- A track record of shipping B2B or internal-platform / SaaS products — ideally workflow-heavy or operational tools rather than purely consumer apps.
Craft
- Strong product sense — you can look at a problem and a set of users and form a clear, defensible point of view on what to build and why.
- Demonstrated ability to do the core craft of PM well: stakeholder management, requirement discovery and definition, prioritisation, cross-functional coordination, and negotiating scope and sequencing with technology leads.
- Hands-on experience with UI/UX design for B2B web platforms — you can shape flows and interfaces, reason about usability, and collaborate closely with designers.
- Clear, structured communication — verbal, written, and visual. You can write a crisp PRD and run a room.
Domain & technical comfort
- A working understanding of how a lending institution (Bank / HFC / NBFC) operates — how a loan is processed from origination through servicing, and what CRM, LOS, and LMS systems do. Depth in our specific products will be built on the job; what matters is that you’re not starting from zero.
- Enough comfort with technology to communicate effectively with engineering — to understand technical constraints, ask good questions, and earn the team’s trust. Deep technical skills are a plus, not a prerequisite.
- Equally at home in a room with business teams (credit, operations, compliance, business development, strategy) and with technology leads (project managers, team leads, developers, QA, design).
Mindset
- Comfortable leading without authority and earning influence through clarity and judgment.
- Bias toward understanding the user and the problem deeply before reaching for a solution.
- Comfortable using AI tools to make repetitive work faster and sharper — while keeping your own judgment in the loop rather than outsourcing thinking to them wholesale.
- OWNERSHIP, you treat the platform as yours and the users’ experience as your responsibility.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and change. In a fast-moving startup the role is a starting point, not a fence; you're happy to flex beyond the defined scope when priorities shift.
Nice to have
- Exposure to co-lending, direct assignment, or securitisation workflows.
- Familiarity with RBI regulatory frameworks relevant to retail lending.
- Comfort with data and analytics tooling to inform and measure product decisions.
Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related field is expected, a master's degree in business management is a plus. A strong demonstrated product track record matters more to us.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation and performance-linked bonus.
- Medical insurance for you and your dependents.
- Access to learning and development resources, technical and non-technical.
- The chance to own a core platform at the centre of India’s largest affordable-housing co-lending network.
