Job Description – Librarian (Classes up to XII)
Position Title: Librarian
Location: DPS, Unnao
Job Summary:
The Librarian is responsible for managing the school library efficiently and creating a positive reading culture among students from primary to senior secondary classes. The role involves organizing library resources, assisting students and teachers, maintaining records, and ensuring smooth library operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the school library for classes up to XII.
- Issue, receive, and catalogue books, journals, magazines, and digital resources.
- Maintain proper records of library stock, accession registers, and student usage.
- Guide students in selecting age-appropriate and curriculum-related reading materials.
- Encourage reading habits through library activities, book fairs, reading programs, and competitions.
- Assist teachers and students in research and reference work.
- Ensure proper classification, shelving, and upkeep of books and library resources.
- Maintain discipline and a conducive learning environment in the library.
- Prepare reports related to library usage, stock verification, and procurement requirements.
- Coordinate with management for the purchase of new books and subscriptions.
- Promote digital learning resources and maintain e-library systems, if applicable.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science / Library & Information Science (B.Lib / B.Lib.I.Sc).
- Master’s degree in Library Science (preferred).
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in a school library, preferably up to senior secondary level.
- Knowledge of library management software and digital cataloguing systems.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
Pay: Up to ₹30,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
