The Category Buyer – Personal Care & Home Care will lead sourcing, assortment planning, and category growth for non-food segments including personal care, home care, and eco-friendly household products. This role focuses on driving profitability, introducing innovative organic/sustainable brands, and ensuring a strong customer-centric assortment.
Key ResponsibilitiesCategory Ownership & Strategy
- Own and manage the Personal Care & Home Care category end-to-end.
- Define category strategy, growth roadmap, and revenue targets.
- Build a differentiated assortment focused on organic, natural, and sustainable products.
Vendor Sourcing & Management
- Identify and onboard new brands/vendors in organic, clean beauty, and eco-friendly home care segments.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiations (pricing, margins, trade terms), and contracts.
- Drive exclusive launches, private labels, and strategic partnerships.
Assortment Planning & Merchandising
- Curate a relevant and competitive product mix aligned with customer preferences.
- Rationalize SKUs to optimize shelf space and productivity.
- Plan seasonal introductions, innovations, and product lifecycle.
Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination
- Work closely with supply chain teams for demand planning and inventory optimization.
- Monitor stock levels, reduce slow-moving inventory, and minimize stock-outs.
- Improve inventory turnover and working capital efficiency.
Pricing & Profitability
- Ensure competitive and data-driven pricing strategies.
- Track margins, GMROI, and overall category profitability.
- Drive promotional planning and cost optimization initiatives.
Market & Consumer Insights
- Track industry trends in clean beauty, wellness, and eco-friendly home care.
- Analyze competition, pricing benchmarks, and customer behavior.
- Identify white spaces for innovation and category expansion.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with marketing for campaign planning and in-store/online promotions.
- Work with operations teams for seamless execution in stores.
- Align with finance for budgeting and forecasting.
Key Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years in buying/category management (FMCG/retail preferred).
- Strong domain knowledge of personal care, home care, and sustainable products.
- Proven experience in vendor negotiation and category P&L ownership.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills (Excel, dashboards, etc.).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented retail environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in modern retail, D2C brands, or organic/natural product segments.
- Familiarity with clean beauty, ayurvedic, or eco-friendly product trends.
Pay: ₹627,631.02 - ₹1,970,426.11 per year
