Job Summary
The General Physician is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions in adult patients. The physician provides comprehensive medical care, coordinates with specialists when required, and ensures quality patient care in accordance with hospital policies and medical ethics.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine patients, obtain medical histories, and perform physical assessments.
- Diagnose and treat common medical illnesses and chronic diseases.
- Prescribe medications, investigations, and treatment plans.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment when necessary.
- Manage outpatient (OPD), inpatient (IPD), and emergency cases as assigned.
- Interpret laboratory reports, ECGs, X-rays, and other diagnostic tests.
- Provide preventive healthcare advice and health education to patients.
- Refer patients to specialists when advanced care is required.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
- Participate in clinical meetings, audits, and quality improvement activities.
- Adhere to hospital protocols, infection control practices, and ethical standards.
- Respond to medical emergencies and code situations as required.
Required Qualifications
- MBBS degree from a recognized medical institution.
- Valid medical registration with the appropriate medical council.
- MD/DNB in General Medicine preferred (if applicable).
- Minimum 1–5 years of clinical experience preferred (freshers may apply depending on hospital policy).
