- Library Management
- Organize, catalog, and maintain books, journals, digital resources, and other library materials.
- Manage library circulation, including issuing and returning materials.
- Conduct inventory checks and maintain accurate records.
- Support Teaching and Learning
- Help students locate and use information effectively.
- Assist teachers in selecting instructional resources.
- Collaborate with faculty to support curriculum needs.
- Promote Reading and Literacy
- Encourage reading through book clubs, reading challenges, and library events.
- Recommend age-appropriate books and learning materials.
- Organize literacy programs and author visits when possible.
- Information and Digital Literacy
- Teach students how to research, evaluate sources, and use information ethically.
- Support the use of educational technology and digital resources.
- Guide students in online safety and responsible internet use.
- Collection Development
- Select and acquire new books and resources based on curriculum and student interests.
- Weed out outdated or damaged materials.
- Manage the library budget and resource subscriptions.
- Administrative Duties
- Prepare reports and maintain library statistics.
- Develop library policies and procedures.
- Ensure the library environment is safe, welcoming, and conducive to learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Education, Information Science, or a related field.
- Library Science certification or professional qualification (preferred, depending on local requirements).
- Knowledge of library management systems and digital resources.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
