Qualification
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Radiology and Imaging Technology (DMRT, B.Sc. Radiology & Imaging Technology, or equivalent recognized qualification).
- Registration with the appropriate statutory authority, if applicable.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Radiology Technician in a hospital or diagnostic center.
- Freshers with relevant clinical training or internship may be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-rays and assist with specialized imaging examinations as assigned.
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures by explaining the process, obtaining relevant history, and ensuring patient comfort.
- Position patients accurately to obtain high-quality diagnostic images while minimizing radiation exposure.
- Operate radiology equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with established protocols.
- Ensure adherence to radiation safety guidelines and the principles of radiation protection for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Verify patient identity and imaging requests before conducting examinations.
- Maintain imaging records and ensure proper documentation in the Hospital Information System (HIS) and Radiology Information System (RIS), where applicable.
- Assist radiologists during contrast studies and other specialized diagnostic procedures.
- Monitor radiology equipment performance and promptly report any faults or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the imaging department and ensure adequate availability of consumables.
- Follow infection prevention and control protocols and biomedical waste management guidelines.
- Coordinate with clinicians, nursing staff, and other departments to facilitate timely diagnostic services.
- Participate in quality assurance activities, departmental audits, and continuing education programs.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of radiographic positioning techniques and imaging procedures.
- Familiarity with X-ray equipment, digital radiography (CR/DR), PACS, RIS, and HIS systems.
- Understanding of radiation protection principles and applicable safety regulations.
- Ability to produce high-quality diagnostic images with attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and manage emergency imaging requirements.
Working Conditions
- Rotational shifts, including day, evening, night, weekends, and public holidays.
- Availability for emergency and on-call duties as per hospital requirements.
