Position Overview
Autodesk’s Platform team is looking for a motivated Software Engineer I (Java & AWS) to join our growing engineering organization. Our team builds cloud-native services and platform capabilities that enable Autodesk products and experiences used by millions of customers worldwide.
In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, deployment, and operation of services within Autodesk’s cloud data platform. You will work with technologies including Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Terraform, and microservices, while developing your software engineering skills through collaboration with experienced engineers, architects, and product partners.
You will be based in Pune, India, report to the Manager of Software Development, and work within Autodesk’s flexible hybrid work model.
Responsibilities
Contribute across the software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance
Develop reliable, maintainable, and well-tested cloud-native services using Java and Spring Boot
Build and integrate RESTful APIs within a distributed microservices environment
Write clean, maintainable code and comprehensive automated tests by following established engineering practices and team standards
Work on well-defined engineering problems and evaluate solutions using established technical approaches, patterns, and guidelines
Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and architects to understand requirements and deliver product capabilities through iterative releases
Work with AWS services and contribute to cloud infrastructure managed through Infrastructure as Code
Participate in code and design reviews, incorporating feedback from more experienced engineers to continuously improve software quality
Participate in deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support while developing knowledge of service reliability and operational best practices
Use AI-assisted software development tools and practices as part of day-to-day engineering workflows, including Spec-Driven Development, code generation, code understanding, test generation, debugging, and automated code reviews
Apply engineering judgment when using AI-generated output and validate it for correctness, security, maintainability, performance, and test coverage
Continuously build knowledge of the team’s technology stack, platform architecture, Autodesk products, customers, and engineering practices
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
1+ years of professional software development experience building software applications or services using Java
Good knowledge of Java, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software engineering fundamentals.
Experience with Spring and Spring Boot or similar Java application frameworks
Experience developing or integrating RESTful APIs
Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and experience with AWS or another major cloud platform
Exposure to AWS services such as SQS, S3, DynamoDB, IAM, and Lambda
Understanding of microservices and distributed application concepts
Familiarity with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code technologies
Experience writing unit and integration tests and using automated testing frameworks
Experience using Git and familiarity with CI/CD development workflows
Hands-on experience using AI-assisted coding tools for software development activities such as code generation, code understanding, testing, debugging, or code review
Good analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
Ability to collaborate effectively, receive feedback, and learn from more experienced team members
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to event-driven architectures and asynchronous messaging systems
Familiarity with Apache Flink or other stream-processing technologies
Understanding of SaaS applications and cloud-native application development
Familiarity with observability concepts, including application logging, metrics, monitoring, tracing, and alerting
Exposure to performance and load-testing tools such as BlazeMeter or similar technologies
Familiarity with shell scripting and development automation
Understanding of secure cloud-development practices and IAM concepts
Interest in building and operating scalable, reliable cloud services
