Job Summary
A Continental Chef is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes from European cuisines (such as Italian, French, Mediterranean, etc.). The role requires expertise in continental cooking techniques, creativity in menu planning, and maintaining high standards of food quality and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a wide range of continental dishes (soups, sauces, salads, meats, pastas, desserts).
- Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portioning.
- Assist in menu planning and development of new recipes.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
- Monitor food stock, order ingredients, and minimize wastage.
- Supervise and train junior kitchen staff.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to restaurant standards.
- Follow safety and sanitation policies.
- Coordinate with other kitchen sections for smooth operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Continental Chef or similar role.
- Knowledge of European cuisines (Italian, French, Spanish, etc.).
- Strong understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
- Creativity and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Teamwork and leadership skills.
- Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts (preferred).
