Job Description: The primary goal is to ensure that the right billed amounts to be charged with all agreed upon standards. The role supports cost control, vendor performance evaluation, transparency in legal spend reporting through different platforms
Responsibilities: Providing Invoice Review & Analysis including:
- Review legal bills for accuracy, guideline compliance and appropriate use of UTBMS coding categories.
- Evaluate fees entries for clarity, necessity, appropriate staffing and proportionality to the task.
- Identify billing issues such as block billing, duplication, excessive hours, vague entries, administrative tasks and improper delegation.
- Compare invoices to case budgets and matter expectations.
- Apply billing rules consistent with Panel Counsel billing guidelines and American Bar Association standards on reasonable fees
- Communicate billing adjustments clearly, citing guideline deviations or industry standards.
- Demonstrate strong working knowledge of UTBMS structures (task, activity, and expense codes) and how they apply to litigation and transactional invoices.
- The reviewer must understand key litigation stages and typical responsibilities of each timekeeper level.
- Partner with legal, finance, claims, and litigation teams to support inquiries
Essential Functions
- Exposure to litigation process and legal documentation
- Ability to effectively work using desktop computer systems, especially Microsoft Office with prior experience of working on client’s interface/tool
Qualifications: A law graduate (LL.B.) from a reputed university (minimum).
1-2 years legal billing, litigation support, claims operations, or law firm accounting.
