ROLE OVERVIEW
The Chief Instructor (Hydraulics/Pneumatics) will offer specialised knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, test benches, and heavy equipment operation to inform the planning and design of modern maintenance facilities as part of the Delhi Station Decongestion Study.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide domain expertise on hydraulic and pneumatic M&P systems used in railway workshops and coaching maintenance facilities
- Assess existing hydraulics/pneumatics M&P capabilities and identify upgrade requirements for proposed facilities
- Offer technical guidance on 140-ton breakdown (BD) cranes and related heavy maintenance equipment
- Recommend test bench configurations and equipment specifications for integrated maintenance facility planning
- Support development of operational and safety protocols related to hydraulic/pneumatic systems at new facilities
- Contribute to technical assessments, M&P equipment schedules, and consultancy report sections on workshop systems
- Collaborate with depot planning and rolling stock teams to ensure hydraulics/pneumatics inputs are integrated into facility design recommendations
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Electronics
- Experience in maintenance and operation of hydraulics/pneumatics M&Ps and/or 140-ton BD crane and/or test benches preferred
- Minimum 3 years as Technical Supervisor at Level-7, or 4 years as supervisor at Level-6 in Open Line or Workshops/Production Units of Indian Railways
- Familiarity with safety protocols and IR standards related to hydraulic/pneumatic systems
- Ability to prepare technical documentation and contribute to multi-disciplinary consultancy reports
