Role Description: We are looking for an experienced IT Support Engineer to support a Singapore-based client while leading the migration and modernization of their legacy server infrastructure. The environment includes Windows Server 2008 R2/2012 workloads alongside newer Windows Server 2025 and SQL Server 2022 systems. The role combines infrastructure migration with ongoing administration of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, virtualization, networking, backup, and endpoint security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute the migration of legacy Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL Server, file services, and NAS workloads to a modern, secure infrastructure with minimal business disruption.
- Rebuild and consolidate the existing multi-site Active Directory environment into a streamlined and secure architecture.
- Prepare migration documentation, validation and rollback plans, coordinate cutovers, and perform post-migration testing and stabilization.
- Administer and maintain Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, VMware ESXi, FortiGate firewalls, Synology NAS, endpoint security, backup solutions, and overall infrastructure health.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, licensing, patching, monitoring, backups, and system performance across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, server, network, application, and access issues through root cause analysis and timely resolution.
- Monitor security posture, identify infrastructure risks, recommend improvements, and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, provide clear client communication, coordinate with internal and client teams, and accurately track billable hours.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 4–6 years of experience in IT Infrastructure or Systems Administration.
- Proven experience migrating Windows Server environments and rebuilding Active Directory.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration, upgrades, and migrations (Windows Server 2008 R2/2012 to Windows Server 2025).
- Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365, including user management, licensing, Exchange Online, and SharePoint/OneDrive.
- Experience with VMware ESXi virtualization.
- Familiarity with Synology NAS, backup technologies, and disaster recovery.
- Basic networking knowledge with exposure to FortiGate firewalls.
- Experience with endpoint security solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and client communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage overseas client engagements, and deliver within agreed timelines.
- Willingness to provide support during overlapping Singapore business hours when required.
