2. About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Deputy General Manager – Sales & Marketing to lead the South India business development and sales function for Sunchaser Structures Pvt. Ltd.
The incumbent will be responsible for developing and executing the regional business strategy for Solar Trackers, Ground-Mounted Module Mounting Structures (MMS), Seasonal Tilt MMS and related solar mounting solutions.
The role requires strong relationships with Solar IPPs, EPC companies, renewable energy developers, module manufacturers, consultants, project developers, procurement teams and other key stakeholders.
The DGM will be responsible for building a strong regional sales pipeline, identifying upcoming solar projects, developing strategic accounts, leading commercial negotiations and achieving regional revenue and margin targets.
3. Key Responsibilities
A. Regional Business Strategy
- Develop and execute the overall South India Sales & Business Development Strategy.
- Prepare state-wise business plans for Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh.
- Identify high-potential markets, customers, projects and applications.
- Develop strategies for increasing Sunchaser's market share in the South Indian solar market.
- Prepare annual, quarterly and monthly sales plans.
- Monitor regional market developments, project announcements, tenders and investment activity.
- Identify opportunities for expansion into new customer segments and geographies.
B. Business Development
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in utility-scale solar and renewable energy projects.
- Build relationships with:
- Solar IPPs
- EPC Contractors
- Renewable Energy Developers
- Project Developers
- Independent Power Producers
- Government / PSU customers
- Consultants
- Engineering firms
- Procurement teams
- Solar module manufacturers
- Project owners
- Develop a strong network among decision-makers and key influencers.
- Track upcoming solar projects from concept, tender and pre-bid stage through award and execution.
- Generate qualified leads and convert them into business opportunities.
- Develop long-term strategic relationships with major regional accounts.
C. Sales Management
- Own the complete regional sales cycle from lead generation to order closure.
- Achieve assigned regional:
- Sales targets
- Order booking targets
- Revenue targets
- Gross margin targets
- Collection targets
- Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline.
- Prepare accurate sales forecasts and revenue projections.
- Review opportunities based on project size, probability, competition, pricing and expected closure date.
- Ensure timely follow-up of all major opportunities.
- Drive conversion of enquiries into purchase orders/contracts.
- Ensure proper handover of confirmed orders to internal execution teams.
D. Key Account Management
- Develop and manage strategic relationships with major customers in South India.
- Identify key accounts and prepare Key Account Development Plans.
- Conduct regular meetings with senior management and procurement teams of major customers.
- Understand customer requirements, upcoming projects and procurement strategies.
- Resolve commercial and relationship-related issues.
- Develop repeat business and long-term supply relationships.
- Maintain strong customer engagement even after order closure.
E. Solar Tracker & MMS Business Development
- Promote Sunchaser's:
- Horizontal Single-Axis Trackers
- Solar Tracking Solutions
- Fixed-Tilt MMS
- Seasonal Tilt MMS
- Ground-Mounted Structures
- Other solar mounting solutions
- Understand customer technical requirements and coordinate with Design/Engineering teams.
- Lead technical-commercial discussions with EPCs and project developers.
- Present the technical and commercial advantages of Sunchaser solutions.
- Support customers during technical evaluation, vendor approval and qualification processes.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and technical clarification discussions.
F. Tender & Project Tracking
- Maintain a comprehensive database of upcoming solar projects in South India.

The Indian utility-scale solar market includes large EPC/developer players and tracker suppliers, making competitor intelligence and early project engagement particularly important for this role.
4. Team Leadership
- Build and lead the South India sales/business development team.
- Define territory-wise responsibilities and targets.
- Set individual KPIs for sales team members.
- Conduct regular performance reviews.
- Coach and mentor sales executives/managers.
- Improve sales productivity and conversion ratios.
- Develop a high-performance sales culture.
- Identify manpower requirements for future regional expansion.
5. Internal Coordination

7. Educational Qualification
Essential
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Business Administration / Marketing / Commerce or related discipline.
Preferred
- MBA / PGDM in Sales & Marketing / Business Management.
- Engineering background, particularly Mechanical / Electrical / Civil, will be an advantage.
8. Experience Required
- 12–18 years of overall experience in Sales / Business Development.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior sales/business development leadership role.
- Strong experience in the Solar / Renewable Energy / EPC / Infrastructure industry.
- Experience dealing with utility-scale solar projects is highly preferred.
- Candidates with experience in Solar Tracker / MMS / Solar Structures / Module / Inverter / EPC / BOS businesses will be preferred.
- Proven experience handling large-value B2B/project sales.

We are looking for a business leader rather than a conventional sales manager.
The ideal candidate should already have a strong network among South Indian solar EPCs, IPPs, developers and procurement decision-makers and should be capable of independently developing a regional business.
The candidate should be able to answer:
"Which projects are coming in South India, who is developing them, who is the EPC, who is the decision-maker, what is the procurement timeline, who are our competitors, and how can Sunchaser win the order?"
This market-intelligence and relationship-driven approach is particularly important because large-scale solar procurement involves developers, EPCs, consultants and technology suppliers across multiple project stages.

- Prepare state-wise business development strategy.

- Establish a strong regional sales pipeline.
- Generate new customer accounts.
- Secure customer/vendor registrations and approvals.

- Achieve assigned South India sales and order-booking targets.
