JOB SUMMARY
The Process and Quality Manager will be responsible for process planning, manufacturing readiness, supplier quality, and continuous improvement activities for Motor manufacturing operations. The role involves establishing robust manufacturing processes, improving operational efficiency and supporting for development topics. The position requires strong collaboration with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, SCM, Supplier teams to ensure high product quality, manufacturing reliability, and operational excellence.
Roles & Responsibilities - HV Motors & MV Drives
A. Process Planning (PP):
1. Process Design & Manufacturing Readiness:
-
Define end‑to‑end manufacturing processes for Motor winding, VPI, core building, assembly, testing, Painting, Dispatch
-
Define manufacturing methods and standard operating sequence for all production stages.
-
Review engineering drawings and BOM for manufacturability, assembly feasibility, and process optimization.
-
Support factory layout planning and workflow optimization.
-
Conduct process reviews at contract manufacturing partners to ensure manufacturing processes are followed as per Innomotics standards and approved procedures.
2. Work Instructions & Documentation
-
Prepare and maintain SOPs, Work Instructions (WI), process flow diagrams, manufacturing processes.
-
Maintain proper document revision control and ensure latest approved documents are available at production locations.
-
Coordinate with Engineering teams for implementation of process and documentation changes.
-
Conduct periodic document reviews and updates based on process improvements and engineering changes.
3. Tooling, Fixtures & Equipment Planning
-
Define tooling, fixtures, gauges, and equipment requirements during introduction of new suppliers, new manufacturing processes, or new product industrialization activities.
-
Monitor critical equipment and their process parameters at contract manufacturing locations to ensure compliance with approved manufacturing standards and process requirements.

Assembly jigs and alignment fixtures
4. Root Cause Analysis & Risk Mitigation
-
Drive structured problem-solving activities using 8D, A3, 5 Why, and CAPA methodologies.
-
Conduct PFMEA for critical manufacturing processes and identify potential failure risks.
-
Monitor effectiveness of implemented actions and drive continuous process improvements.
-
Develop and implement One Point Lessons (OPLs) for critical manufacturing processes, quality learnings, safety practices, and operational improvements
6. New Product Introduction (NPI)
-
Support prototype builds, pilot runs, and industrialization.
-
Validate process capability for new motor variants or
-
Freeze manufacturing process before serial production.
7. Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing
-
Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve manufacturing efficiency.
8. Cross‑Functional Coordination
-
Work closely with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, SCM team to ensure smooth execution of manufacturing activities.
-
Act as a bridge between engineering and shop‑floor execution.
-
Support resolution of manufacturing, supplier, and process-related issues through cross-functional collaboration
-
Support internal & External audits, and management review discussions through coordination with relevant stakeholders.
B. Supplier quality:
1. Supplier Qualification & Development:
-
Evaluate, and qualify suppliers for motor laminations, shafts, copper wire, insulation materials, castings, fabrication etc.
-
Conduct supplier audits (process, quality systems, EHS).
2. First Article Inspection (FAI):
-
Conduct First Article Inspection (FAI) for new parts, suppliers, process changes, and tooling modifications before serial production approval.
-
Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams (Design, operational quality, SCM) for closure of FAI observations and implementation actions.
4. Supplier Performance Monitoring
-
Monitor and report supplier KPIs:
Supplier Incident Rate (SIR)
Supplier Failure Rate (SFR)
Supplier Delivery Reliability (SDR)
-
Initiate CAPA for low-performing suppliers based on KPI performance, and track timely closure and effectiveness of corrective actions
5. Non‑Conformance & Corrective Action
-
Manage supplier quality deviations, concession requests, and containment actions for supplier-related issues.
-
Coordinate immediate containment actions to minimize impact on production, quality, and customer deliveries
-
Analyse recurring supplier quality issues and identify systemic gaps in process, material, tooling, or manufacturing controls.
-
Review and monitor corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) submitted by supplier root cause analysis using methodologies such as 8D, A3, 5‑Why, Fishbone (Ishikawa)
-
Verify effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
6. Supplier Risk & Sustainability Management
-
Identify risks related to:
- Single sourcing
- Capacity constraints
-
Develop risk mitigation plans (dual sourcing, process audits).
7. Shared Responsibilities – Process Planning & Supplier Quality
-
Support NPI industrialization and supplier readiness.
-
Participate in root‑cause analysis for internal & supplier issues.
-
Support audits (ISO, customer audits, internal audits).
-
Drive continuous improvement across internal processes and supplier base.
