A picker packer is a vital role responsible for fulfilling customer orders by selecting items from inventory and securely packing them for shipment. They ensure the correct products are dispatched safely, on time, and without damage.
- Order Picking: Reviewing order slips or digital lists to locate and retrieve specific merchandise from warehouse shelves.
- Quality Control: Inspecting products for damage or defects before packing them.
- Packaging: Selecting the correct size boxes or containers, wrapping items securely with protective materials (e.g., bubble wrap), and sealing them.
- Labeling: Applying accurate shipping labels, packing slips, and tracking barcodes to packages.
- Inventory Management: Monitoring stock levels, reporting discrepancies, and occasionally conducting cycle counts.
- Warehouse Organization: Keeping packing stations clean, sorting materials, and maintaining a safe, hazard-free environment.
Typical Requirements & Skills
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for long shifts, along with the capacity to lift between 2.5 to 5kg regularly.
- Attention to Detail: High accuracy in reading SKU numbers, quantities, and matching labels to prevent shipping errors.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with handheld barcode scanners and basic Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Time Management: Capability to work efficiently and meet daily performance quotas, especially during peak seasons.
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is generally preferred, but many roles are entry-level and provide on-the-job training.
