Position Overview
SónChiraiya is looking for a creative and detail-oriented Textile Designer (Pattern Design) to create original patterns and surface designs for our luxury Kota Zari saree collections. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of traditional Indian motifs, color combinations, textile aesthetics, and market trends while translating creative concepts into production-ready designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design original patterns, motifs, borders, pallus, and all-over prints for sarees and other textile products.
- Develop seasonal and thematic design collections aligned with the SónChiraiya brand identity.
- Create digital artwork using design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and CorelDRAW.
- Prepare repeat patterns and production-ready files for weaving and printing.
- Research fashion, textile, color, and design trends to inspire new collections.
- Work closely with the production and merchandising teams to ensure design feasibility.
- Develop colorways and design variations for existing collections.
- Maintain a library of design concepts, motifs, and artwork.
- Ensure all designs meet quality, aesthetic, and brand standards.
- Coordinate with artisans and the production team to execute designs accurately.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of pattern development and repeat creation.
- Excellent understanding of color theory and textile design principles.
- Creativity with a keen eye for detail.
- Knowledge of traditional Indian textile motifs and contemporary design trends.
- Ability to work within deadlines and manage multiple projects.
Software Skills
- Adobe Photoshop

- Microsoft Office (basic)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Surface Design, or a related field.
- 1–4 years of experience in textile or pattern design. Freshers with a strong portfolio may also apply.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in saree, handloom, ethnic wear, or luxury textile design.
- Knowledge of Kota Doria, Zari weaving, jacquard concepts, or traditional Indian textiles is an added advantage.
