About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic General Manager – Human Resources to lead the HR function for our mining operations in Odisha. The ideal candidate should be originally from Tamil Nadu, willing to relocate to Odisha, and possess working knowledge of the Odia language to effectively manage the local workforce while maintaining coordination with the corporate office in Tamil Nadu.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end HR operations for mining and infrastructure projects.
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Manage talent acquisition, manpower planning, and workforce deployment.
- Ensure compliance with all labour laws, mining regulations, statutory requirements, and industrial relations.
- Handle employee engagement, performance management, compensation, succession planning, and retention initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with local communities, government authorities, and labour unions.
- Drive organizational development, HR policies, culture-building, and change management initiatives.
- Monitor payroll, HR budgets, audits, and statutory compliance.
- Coordinate regularly with the Corporate HR team in Tamil Nadu and provide strategic HR reports to management.
- Mentor and lead the HR team across project locations.
Candidate Profile
- Native of Tamil Nadu.
- Willing to relocate and work full-time in Odisha.
- Ability to communicate in Odia (reading, speaking, and understanding preferred).
- Strong understanding of mining industry HR practices and statutory compliance.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Experience in handling large blue-collar and white-collar workforces.
- Exposure to industrial relations, labour welfare, and project-based HR operations.
Educational Qualification
- MBA/PGDM in Human Resources, Personnel Management, or Industrial Relations.
- Additional qualification in Labour Laws or Industrial Relations will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 15–20 years of progressive HR experience.
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership role such as GM-HR, DGM-HR, AGM-HR, or Head-HR.
- Prior experience in Mining, Infrastructure, Metals, Cement, Steel, Heavy Engineering, EPC, or Manufacturing is mandatory.
