Job Summary:
The Director/Dean of the Computer Science & Engineering Department is responsible for providing strategic leadership, academic excellence, research development, industry collaboration, accreditation compliance, faculty development, and overall administration of the department. The incumbent will drive innovation in teaching-learning processes, promote research culture, strengthen industry-academia partnerships, and ensure the department's growth in line with institutional goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership
- Provide strategic direction for academic programs, curriculum development, and departmental growth.
- Ensure effective implementation of AICTE, UGC, NBA, and NAAC guidelines.
- Monitor teaching quality, course delivery, and student learning outcomes.
- Introduce emerging technologies and industry-relevant courses in areas such as AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, and IoT.
- Promote outcome-based education (OBE) and continuous academic improvement.
Research & Innovation
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance research productivity.
- Encourage faculty and students to publish research papers in reputed journals and conferences.
- Facilitate funded research projects from government and industry agencies.
- Establish research centers, innovation labs, and incubation facilities.
- Promote patent filing, consultancy projects, and technology transfer initiatives.
Faculty Management & Development
- Lead recruitment, mentoring, performance evaluation, and retention of faculty members.
- Identify training needs and organize Faculty Development Programs (FDPs).
- Foster a culture of academic excellence and professional growth.
- Monitor faculty workload and ensure effective resource utilization.
Student Development
- Enhance student academic performance and employability.
- Monitor student progression, placements, internships, and higher education opportunities.
- Encourage participation in technical competitions, hackathons, and innovation challenges.
- Address student grievances and ensure a positive learning environment.
Industry Collaboration & Placement Support
- Develop strong relationships with industries, corporate organizations, and technology companies.
- Facilitate internships, industrial visits, guest lectures, and collaborative projects.
- Support the Training & Placement Cell in improving placement outcomes.
- Establish Centers of Excellence in collaboration with industry partners.
Accreditation & Compliance
- Lead NBA, NAAC, NIRF, AICTE, and other accreditation-related activities.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain departmental documentation and quality assurance processes.
Administration & Governance
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets and resources.
- Develop annual operational plans and departmental policies.
- Chair departmental meetings and coordinate with institutional leadership.
- Ensure efficient utilization of laboratories, infrastructure, and equipment.
Strategic Planning
- Formulate short-term and long-term departmental development plans.
- Benchmark departmental performance against leading institutions.
- Drive initiatives to improve rankings, research output, and institutional reputation.
Qualification & Experience
Essential Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering or a relevant specialization from a recognized university.
- First Class Bachelor's and Master's Degree in CSE or allied disciplines.
Experience:
- Minimum 15–20 years of teaching, research, and academic administration experience in higher education.
- Experience as Professor, HOD, Dean, or equivalent leadership position.
- Proven record of research publications, funded projects, patents, and academic leadership.
- Experience in NBA/NAAC accreditation and institutional quality assurance processes.
