Position: BDS Dentist / Dental Consultant

Reporting To: Hospital Administrator
Employment Type: Consultant (Part-Time)
Experience Required: 2–3 Years (Post Qualification)
Working Days: Monday to SaturdayWorking Hours: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Salary: Negotiable as per industry standards and candidate’s experience.
Job Summary
The Dental Consultant shall provide comprehensive dental care services, including diagnosis, treatment, preventive dental care, patient counselling, and emergency dental management. The consultant shall ensure quality patient care while complying with NABH standards, infection prevention and control practices, statutory regulations, and hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine, diagnose, and formulate treatment plans for patients with dental and oral health conditions.
- Perform routine dental procedures including dental restorations (fillings), scaling and polishing, tooth extractions, minor oral surgical procedures, and root canal treatment (where applicable).
- Diagnose and manage dental emergencies during OPD hours.
- Educate patients regarding oral hygiene, preventive dental care, and post-treatment instructions.
- Interpret dental radiographs and maintain complete patient records.
- Prescribe medications appropriately in accordance with accepted clinical guidelines.
- Obtain informed consent prior to all invasive procedures.
- Refer patients to higher centres or dental specialists whenever clinically indicated.
- Ensure strict adherence to sterilization protocols, infection prevention practices, biomedical waste management, and universal precautions.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient records and clinical information.
- Coordinate with other departments for multidisciplinary patient management.
- Participate in hospital quality initiatives, NABH compliance activities, departmental meetings, and continuing medical education (CME) programmes.
- Report equipment malfunction and ensure proper maintenance of dental instruments.
Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from a recognized institution.
- Valid Registration with the State Dental Council.
- Minimum 2–3 years of post-qualification clinical experience.
- MDS qualification will be an added advantage.
Required Skills
- Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and patient counselling abilities.
- Sound knowledge of infection control and sterilization practices.
- Knowledge of NABH standards and documentation requirements.
- Professional ethics and patient-centred approach.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
