As a Marketing Team Leader in an automobile dealership, your role is to sit in the driver's seat of the brand's local identity. While the manufacturer handles national "big picture" ads, you are responsible for driving foot traffic to your specific showroom and ensuring the digital "front door" is wide open.
You manage the bridge between the sales floor and the potential customer.
1. Strategic Campaign Management
You aren't just posting on social media; you are managing a budget to move specific inventory.
- Inventory Promotion: Developing targeted campaigns to move "aged units" (cars sitting on the lot too long) or promoting new model launches.
- Seasonal Sales Events: Planning and executing high-impact events like Year-End Clearances, Holiday Sales, or "Tent Events."
- Budget Oversight: Allocating funds across various channels (Google Ads, Meta, local radio, or billboards) to ensure the highest Return on Ad Spend (ROAS).
2. Digital Presence and Lead Generation
In 2026, the car-buying journey starts online. You oversee the digital funnel.
- SEO & SEM Management: Ensuring the dealership appears first when local customers search for specific makes and models.
- Social Media Strategy: Leading a team to create engaging content—such as walk-around videos, customer delivery photos, and "behind-the-scenes" shop content.
- Website Maintenance: Keeping the "Digital Showroom" updated with accurate pricing, high-quality photography, and current incentives.
3. Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Mentorship: Managing a small team of coordinators, graphic designers, or social media specialists.
- Cross-Department Synergy: Meeting weekly with the Sales Manager to see which models need more "push" and the Service Manager to market oil change specials or tire rebates.
- CRM Integration: Working with the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to segment the database for email marketing (e.g., emailing customers whose leases are ending in 6 months).
4. Reputation and Brand Management
- Review Management: Monitoring and responding to Google and Yelp reviews to maintain a high "Star Rating."
- Community Engagement: Organizing dealership involvement in local sponsorships, charity drives, or car shows to build "hometown" trust.
- Compliance: Ensuring all advertising follows strict manufacturer (OEM) brand guidelines and state advertising laws.
