About Vacha:
Vacha Charitable Trust is a Resource Centre for Girls and Women based in Mumbai. Established in 1987 and registered in 1990, Vacha envisions a society built on social justice, equity, and democracy. We run safe educational centres for adolescent girls in bastis, providing life skills such as computer training, conversational English, and social awareness. Our mission is to empower girls and women through education, resource creation, research, training, networking, and advocacy.
Position Summary:
The Community Organiser will report to the Project Coordinator in Mumbai and work with adolescents (ages 10–20) in bastis to build leadership capacities and encourage community-level advocacy. Responsibilities include mobilizing participants, conducting sessions and trainings, and ensuring programme outcomes are met while upholding organizational values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the girls’ resource centre in Dombivli
- Mobilize participants for empowerment programmes.
- Conduct sessions, trainings, and exposure visits on gender sensitization, self-awareness, social awareness, digital literacy, and community advocacy.
- Collaborate with community leaders, local organizations, and relevant authorities.
- Contribute to resource creation and maintain timely reports.
- Represent Vacha at city/national conferences and meetings.
Requirements:
- Open to women candidates.
- Degree in Social Sciences/Development Studies from a recognized institution.
- 1-3years of experience in NGOs focusing on women, children, or youth issues.
- Proficiency in English and Hindi; Marathi preferred.
- Experience in gender justice, participatory processes, and community-based work.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office).
- Willingness to travel locally and occasionally outstation for training and project work.
