Job Summary
The Dy. Manager / Manager – Tool Purchase is responsible for the strategic sourcing, procurement, and timely availability of tooling required for fastener manufacturing operations. The role ensures uninterrupted production by procuring high-quality tooling such as dies, punches, carbide tools, trimming tools, thread rolling dies, and special tooling at competitive prices while maintaining cost, quality, and delivery standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure tooling required for Cold Forging, Thread Rolling, Trimming, Machining, and Secondary Operations.
- Develop and maintain a reliable supplier base for domestic and international tooling requirements.
- Float RFQs, evaluate quotations, negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with Production, Tool Room, Quality, NPD, and Planning teams for tooling requirements.
- Prepare purchase orders and monitor supplier order acknowledgements and deliveries.
- Ensure timely procurement of new development tools and production tooling to avoid production downtime.
- Monitor tool consumption, tool life, and inventory levels to optimize procurement costs.
- Analyze tooling costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction through value engineering and supplier development.
- Conduct supplier performance evaluations based on quality, delivery, cost, and service.
- Resolve supplier quality issues in coordination with the Quality Assurance team.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, ISO/IATF requirements, and documentation standards.
- Prepare MIS reports on tooling purchases, cost savings, supplier performance, and pending orders.
- Support annual budgeting and cost planning for tooling procurement.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of tooling used in fastener manufacturing.
- Expertise in supplier negotiation and vendor management.
- Knowledge of Cold Forging, Thread Rolling, Trimming, and Carbide Tooling.
- Understanding of engineering drawings and tooling specifications.
- Good analytical, planning, and cost-control skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and procurement documentation.
- Strong communication and cross-functional coordination abilities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical/Production) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience.
- Experience: 8–15 years in Tool Purchase or Engineering Purchase, preferably in the Fasteners, Automotive Components, Forging, or Precision Engineering industry.

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
