We are seeking a technically exceptional and leadership-oriented Engineering Head to drive MEP Engineering Excellence across all our projects. This is a command role — the Engineering Head will own all design, BOQ, estimation, technical approvals, and engineering quality systems, acting as the company's technical brain. The role requires a professional who can build a zero-error, BIM-integrated engineering department from the ground up and align engineering with execution, procurement, planning, and quality at every project stage.
The ideal candidate brings 10–15+ years of MEP/EPC project experience, expert proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, ETAP, and Dialux, and the discipline to enforce design standards with zero tolerance for error.
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Engineering & Design Control
- Take complete ownership of Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing design across all company projects.
- Establish a robust design review, validation, and approval system for all project disciplines.
- Cross-check client drawings and consultant drawings to deliver risk-free, construction-ready execution drawings.
- Drive value engineering initiatives to achieve cost optimisation without compromising scope or quality.
- Ensure all designs are aligned with current IS codes, IEC standards, and NBC guidelines.
B. Software & Technical Capability
- AutoCAD (2D & 3D) — expert level for all disciplines.
- Revit MEP — BIM modelling and integrated design system implementation.
- Navisworks — clash detection and multi-discipline coordination.
- Dialux — lighting design and photometric calculations.
- ETAP / equivalent electrical design tools for load flow, short circuit, and protection studies.
- MS Project / Primavera — basic planning integration for design milestone tracking.
- Implement a BIM-based integrated design system across all active and new projects.
C. BOQ, Estimation & Cost Engineering
- Prepare and verify accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for all MEP disciplines.
- Conduct tender drawing analysis and precise quantity take-offs.
- Drive cost vs. design optimisation to protect project margins.
- Provide technical backup and documentation for variation claims and change orders.
D. Project Engineering Support
- Provide continuous engineering support to site execution teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Control and review shop drawings and as-built drawing preparation and submission.
- Resolve technical issues arising from client, consultant, or site coordination.
- Manage material specifications and technical approvals for all MEP components.
E. Planning & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Integrate design milestones with the Planning department to ensure design vs. execution synchronisation.
- Support the Procurement team with material specifications and technical approval documentation.
- Provide measurement clarity and technical inputs to the QS/Billing team for accurate billing.
F. Quality & Compliance
- Strictly enforce IS codes, IEC, and NBC standards across all engineering outputs.
- Maintain a zero-tolerance policy for design errors — implement a mandatory drawing check system.
- Establish a technical audit system for all project designs before release to site.
- Enforce the rule: No execution without engineering clearance.
G. Team Leadership & Development
- Build and lead the Engineering team comprising designers, draftsmen, and engineers.
- Establish a Daily / Weekly engineering review system with structured accountability.
- Drive training and skill development in AutoCAD, BIM, and MEP design tools.
- Foster a culture of precision, discipline, and continuous improvement within the engineering department.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Technical Skills
- Deep technical knowledge of Electrical and MEP integration — LV, HV, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Systems.
- Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, Dialux, and ETAP.
- Strong understanding of BOQ preparation, quantity take-off, and cost engineering.
- Familiarity with IS / IEC / NBC / NFPA codes applicable to MEP EPC projects.
Leadership & Behavioural Skills
- Design leadership mindset — ability to set standards and enforce compliance across teams.
- Strong problem-solving ability with high accountability and discipline.
- Client and consultant handling capability — technically confident and professionally assertive.
- System-builder mentality — ability to create processes, not just execute tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Educational Qualifications
- B.Tech / M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or MEP Engineering (mandatory).
- BIM certification (added advantage). Relevant MEP design certifications preferred.
Experience
- 10 to 15+ years of experience in MEP EPC projects with a strong design background.
- Mandatory experience in High-rise Buildings, Infrastructure, and Industrial Projects.
- Experience building or leading an engineering / design department preferred.
- Exposure to large-scale projects across Real Estate, Data Centres, IT Parks, and Industrial sectors.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIS)
- Design accuracy — Rework percentage (target: ZERO rework).
- BOQ accuracy vs. actual cost variance (target: <2%).
- Technical approval timelines — all approvals within committed schedule.
- Project delay attributable to engineering issues — ZERO tolerance target.
- Cost optimisation achieved through value engineering (% savings).
- Client / consultant technical feedback score.
PREFERRED INDUSTRY EXPOSURE
- MEP EPC Projects and Electrical Infrastructure Projects.
- High-rise Residential / Commercial Buildings and IT Parks / Data Centres.
