Position Summary
The Team Lead – Finance Operations is responsible for managing the day-to-day finance and accounting operations for a portfolio of Canadian clients.
This role serves as the primary owner of client files and is accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all financial information delivered to management and clients.
The Team Lead will be supported by Bookkeepers and junior accounting staff who perform much of the day-to-day transaction processing. However, the Team Lead is responsible for reviewing work, identifying errors, ensuring accuracy, completing higher-level accounting tasks, preparing financial reporting packages, and supporting management decision-making through financial analysis.

Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Close & Financial Reporting
- Own the month-end and year-end close process for assigned clients.
- Review bookkeeping completed by Bookkeepers and Staff Accountants.
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and supported.
- Review bank, credit card, loan, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Prepare and review journal entries and accruals.
- Ensure financial records are accurate and complete.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.
- Investigate unusual balances and variances.
- Maintain supporting working paper files.
Financial Analysis & Management Reporting
- Prepare monthly KPI reporting.
- Perform variance analysis against prior periods, budgets, and forecasts.
- Identify trends, risks, and unusual fluctuations.
- Assist with financial forecasting and budgeting activities.
- Assist with cash flow analysis and planning.
- Support development of client dashboards and reporting packages.
Quality Control & Review
- Review all work prepared by Bookkeepers and Staff Accountants.
- Ensure transactions are properly coded.
- Identify and correct errors before reports are issued.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure client files remain audit-ready.
- Establish quality control procedures and review checklists.
Client Request Management
- Review incoming client requests and emails.
- Coordinate responses with Canadian team members.
- Assign tasks to appropriate team members.
- Ensure client requests are completed on time.
- Follow up on outstanding items.
- Maintain proactive communication regarding deadlines and deliverables.
Team Leadership
- Supervise Bookkeepers and Staff Accountants.
- Review and provide feedback on completed work.
- Train and coach team members.
- Assist with onboarding and knowledge transfer.
- Escalate issues to the Chief Global Officer when required.
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Process Improvement
- Assist with development and maintenance of SOPs.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows.
- Reduce manual work through automation and technology.
- Improve consistency across client engagements.
- Support AI and technology initiatives.

Required QualificationsRequired
- 5+ years of accounting experience.
- Strong experience with month-end close processes.
- Strong financial statement preparation experience.
- Experience reviewing bookkeeping work.
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting.
- Advanced QuickBooks Online knowledge.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Experience managing or supervising staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred
- CA, CPA, MBA, ACCA, CMA or equivalent experience.
- Experience supporting Canadian businesses.
- Xero experience.
- Experience with budgeting and forecasting.
- Experience with Power BI reporting.
- Experience working in outsourced accounting environments.
Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹120,000.00 per month
