About the Role
We are looking for a Solar Module Test Engineer responsible for conducting, monitoring, and reporting testing activities for Solar PV Modules as per applicable national and international testing standards. The candidate should have hands-on experience in solar module testing, laboratory equipment, test procedures, and technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform testing of Solar PV Modules as per applicable IEC / IS standards and customer requirements.
- Conduct and support various tests such as:
- Visual Inspection
- EL (Electroluminescence) Testing
- IV Curve / Performance Testing
- Insulation Resistance Test
- Wet Leakage Current Test
- Hi-Pot / Dielectric Withstand Test
- Thermal Cycling
- Humidity Freeze
- Damp Heat
- UV Preconditioning
- Mechanical Load Test
- Hail Test
- PID / Potential Induced Degradation
- Temperature Coefficient Testing
- Other qualification and reliability tests as required.
- Operate and maintain solar module testing equipment and laboratory instruments.
- Prepare test reports, observations, test data and technical documentation accurately.
- Ensure testing is carried out according to approved SOPs, test methods and standards.
- Monitor test parameters and identify deviations or abnormalities during testing.
- Assist in calibration, verification and preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Ensure proper handling, identification and traceability of test samples.
- Coordinate with customers and internal teams regarding testing schedules, sample requirements and test results.
- Maintain laboratory records, logbooks and equipment records.
- Follow laboratory quality, safety and 5S procedures.
- Support internal/external audits and maintain required documentation.
- Troubleshoot basic technical issues related to testing equipment and instrumentation.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned testing projects.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of Solar PV Modules and Solar Module Testing.
- Good understanding of IEC 61215, IEC 61730 and relevant IS/IEC standards.
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic testing instruments.
- Hands-on experience with IV measurement systems, EL testers, insulation/Hi-Pot testers and environmental chambers will be preferred.
- Ability to read and understand technical standards, test procedures and specifications.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong documentation and report-writing skills.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work in a laboratory/testing environment and handle multiple testing assignments.
Educational Qualification
B.Tech/B.E./Diploma in:
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronics & Communication Engineering
- Electronics Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Renewable Energy / Solar Energy
Candidates with relevant experience in Solar PV Testing / Solar Module Manufacturing / Solar Testing Laboratories will be preferred.
