The Quality Control (QC) Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all machined components produced on machine meet customer specifications, drawing requirements, and quality standards. The role involves inspection, documentation, process monitoring, and continuous improvement in machining quality.
1. Inspection & Measurement
Perform in-process and final inspection of machined components. Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications. Use measuring instruments such as:
- Vernier calipers
- Micrometers (OD/ID/Depth)
- Height gauge
- Bore gauge
- Dial indicator
- Conduct First Article Inspection (FAI).
2. Quality Documentation
Prepare and maintain:
- Inspection reports
- Control plans
- Process sheets
- Calibration records
- NCR (Non-Conformance Reports)
- Maintain traceability of materials and components.
- Ensure documentation compliance for ISO standards.
3. Process Monitoring
- Monitor machining parameters and identify deviations.
- Coordinate with operators to correct dimensional variations.
- Perform root cause analysis for quality issues.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
4. Customer & Supplier Quality
- Handle customer complaints related to dimensional or machining defects.
- Support customer audits.
- Approve incoming raw material and outsourced processes
5. Calibration & Equipment Control
- Ensure periodic calibration of measuring instruments.
- Maintain calibration master list and status.
